Google is shutting down its Android Auto mobile app

As per the latest media reports, Google has confirmed that it is shutting down the ‘Android Auto for Phone Screens’ app with Android 12.

The Verge states in its reports that unlike earlier usage, if any user who is looking for a driving-friendly interface for their Android device, they should now use the Google Assistant driving mode, available within Google Maps, or the native Android Auto interface available in select cars.

Google in one of its statement said that “For those who use them on phone experience (Android Auto mobile app), they will be diverted to Google Assistant driving mode”.

It added that, Google Assistant driving mode which is set to start with Android 12 will be a built-in mobile driving experience. The company further notified that the experience won’t change for any users using Android Auto in compatible cars.

Google gave this confirmation after XDA Developers reported that some users were seeing a message in the ‘Android Auto for Phone Screens’ app that flashed the service is “now only available for car screens” and directed phone users towards Google Assistant driving mode as a replacement.

On the contrary to this, 9to5Google reports said that the ‘Android Auto for Phone Screens’ app is incompatible with Pixel devices which support Android 12.
